CFE Spring Pump-In - April 27, 2003

Nearly 30 apparatus attended the annual CFE Spring Pump-In, held on April 27, 2003 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum (OERM) in Perris, CA. The event was in conjunction with Rail Fest 2003, the annual open house of the OERM. In addition to the static Rig displays and pumping demonstrations, this years event offered the public a ride around the museum streets aboard Mike McDonald's restored 1956 Ford/Crown Hose Wagon (ex-Vernon FD) as well as a chance for the kids to squirt water from a firehose (testing their aim by knocking down an orange cone). At noon, the rigs lined up and paraded down Main street to the delight of the spectators. In the afternoon, the annual Brian Dierkens Memorial Award was presented. This year's winner was Kurt Steinitz, son of CFE member David Steinitz. Special thinks to all those who worked hard to make this event a great success.
