8th Annual CODE 3 Toy Run to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles

Sponsored by Funrise Toys, Code 3 Collectibles, Ghostrider Motorcycle Club, and Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts, nearly 100 motorcycles and over 30 fire rigs participated in the 2003 Code 3 Toy Run held on December 7, 2003. Despite heavy rains the night before, the weather cleared just enough for the ride to go on. The lights-and-siren convoy traveled from Woodland Hills to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in east Hollywood.  As the group along Ventura Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley, two LA City FD tillered aerial trucks were set up holding the stars and stripes for the group to pass under, and another pair of LAFD ladders was waiting in front of Children's Hospital at the end of the route, holding an even larger American flag. All rig drivers received this years Toy Run Code 3 model, special addition pumper. At the hospital, thousands of toys were presented by Santa and his helpers to the children, many of whom are too ill to spend the holidays at home with their families. It was a great day for a great cause - thanks to all who participated! Also thanks to CFE member Duane Kuhlow for providing these photos.
